| Many countries around the world offer exemptions or reduced regulatory requirements for polymers, since at high molecular weight they are not expected to be as bioavailable as other chemicals. However, this means that many polymers have not been tested or assessed as carefully as other chemicals. In this session, we provide an overview of polymer stewardship in a global context, from regulatory requirements to hazard and risk assessment, as well as an update on emerging topics in polymer environmental impacts such as microplastics and recycling.
