Substance Authorization Under REACH: Challenges for Global Companies (PSX 2019 On Demand)
In this session, attendees receive a comprehensive overview on the authorization process under REACH, including its objectives and requirements. The second half of the session focuses on the challenges globally operating companies face when they use Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), which will be subject to authorization, once placed on the so-called Annex XIV. Important aspects of the communication between the different actors involved in the submission of an application for authorization, will be discussed. Global companies need to understand the impact of the REACH authorization process on their global supply chains, which may affect their European industrial sites, their present and future product portfolios and finally their business as a whole. Case studies illustrate some of the previously highlighted challenges and serve as a basis for an interactive discussion on how strategies can be designed to prevent frequently observed pitfalls. Questions such as: 'How relevant are global economic and social impacts and how can they be assessed in the context of an EU-focused Socio-Economic Analysis?' will be addressed and possible solutions presented. We conclude with a summary of best practices. This session has been designed for all audiences, whether you have little knowledge of REACH or a thorough understanding of this European regulation.
