Responding to EPA Risk Evaluations (PSX 2020 On Demand)
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has initiated the risk evaluations of existing chemicals as required by the Lautenberg amendments to TSCA. These and potential new regulatory restrictions (e.g., SNURs) have the potential to disrupt supply chains and impact downstream products. Through skits involving various stakeholders (such as the chemical supplier, manufacturer, downstream customer, consumer, and regulator), this session will examine effective responses to proposed risk evaluations for both high and low risk chemicals. This session will examine how product stewards can respond to proposed US EPA risk evaluations, including by participating in the risk evaluation and submitting information to help make the evaluation an accurate representation of the chemical's current uses. Further, examples and advice will be provided for product stewards addressing the concerns of business-to-business customers, as well as downstream customers and ultimate consumers.
