| Take Back and Recycling Requirements in Latin America: A Challenge for Electrical & Electronic Device Producers | |
| Latin American countries are becoming more of the focus of manufacturers of electrical and electronic devices as their economies have been developing steadily in the last years. Successful market access is connected to and depends upon the awareness and fulfillment of local producer obligations even if a product is imported by local distributor. Otherwise, producers risk that the products could be stopped at customs. In recent years, Latin American countries have put a number of legal requirements targeting producers and addressing environmental issues into effect. Among the obligations are those which apply to both the design and the end-of-life of a product. This session will give an overview about take back and recycling legislation and will also show the complexity of regulatory requirements and the challenge for producers to be aware of the various national requirements.
